Lofoten
Lofoten trails off the Norwegian coast well north of the Arctic Circle, a chain of islands where granite walls rise straight out of the sea and most harbours still smell faintly of drying cod.
Much of this sequence follows a single grey, green day in early September: out of Svolvær by boat into the narrow walls of the Trollfjord, then west to the boulder beaches at Napp and the farms of Gravdal. Around it sit frames from other seasons, among them April snow on Austvågøya, Reine on a long June evening and the rusty hills above Djupfjorden, plus one clear night when the aurora came out over Flakstad.
